The new amnesty clause in the soon-to-be-signed CBA is still unclear, here's how it works. Any player waived by their team using the amnesty clause will find their talents being auctioned off to the highest bidder. If a team waives a player, all of the remaining teams with cap space can bid on his contract and whomever would pay the highest amount of his remaining salary will get the player. The remainder of his contract would be paid by his old team, but would not count towards their salary cap.

Who are some serious players in threat to be waived?

I have Brandon Roy and Gilbert Arenas as locks.

Also, who would the Kings be looking at as bidders? I would like them to make a run at Roy.

I don't see many, if any of the few amnesty players being interested in us. They'll all prefer to go play on short, few dollar contracts with high level teams to a) compete for a ring and b) build up their stock, or at least, in their mind, hopefully build it up. Sucks, but, little reason for Roy to pick us over say, Chicago for example.

It's my understanding that the player goes to the highest bidder. If no one bids, then he becomes a free agent.

Oh shit - duh, lol.

Still, we'd have to be the highest bidder - not something I'd put much faith in with the Maloofs right now lol

Blazers pretty much committed to keep Roy today
