View Full Version : Lakers & Dwight
So either of:
Dwight/Hedo for Bynum/Gasol
or
Dwight/Hedo/Jameer for Bynum/Gasol work.
Ready to play Dwight four times a year?

and Odom was traded to the Mavs for something or another
...it's all jacked up
Reasonable to assume that the Clippers are set to send Eric Gordon and Minny's unprotected 1st rounder to NO for Paul as well. Lots of action in the Pacific division.

Honestly, if they move Gasol AND Bynum for Howard, along with trade Odom for nothing. I don't think they improved their team.
Howard IMO is extremely overrated. He's an excellent rebounder but Bynum, Gasol, and Odom is a lot of lost rebounding. He's not a dominant low post offesnive player. Niether is Bynum-Gasol but i think Gasol is more steady and reliable in that regard.
I also don't view Howard as this great dominant defender people treat him as. I think he's a dominant defensive player like Marcus Camby is which really isnt dominant at all. They block a lot of shots but they don't anchor great defenses like true great defensive big men like David Robinson/Tim Duncan, Dikembe Mutombo, Kevin Garnett, The Wallace's etc. did. As Jerry Reynolds says, a block is only good if the ball is recovered by your team. Howard is one of those guys that swats a ball into the stands and really thinks he accomplished something. Orlando was never a strong defensive team with him. They were always average to poor and lived on offense. Atleast with Paul there was going to be a serious connection with Andrew Bynum if the deal went through. That combination along with Kobe's one on one game would have been worth losing all the guys. Howard-Kobe is really just an extremely poor mans Shaq-Kobe only with Shaq being a few inches shorter and less skilled and Kobe leaving his prime.
I don't know why the Lakers are trying so hard to make a huge splash by bringing in another superstar when they can solve most of their problems by simply getting a quicker, more athletic PG who can hit an open three and play decent defense. That does not even need to be an all star. Pretty much Fisher from 10 years ago would do.
I just don't understand why they are so determined to blow up a championship core when their only true weakness that gets exploited night in and night out was the fact that Derek Fisher could not say infront of his own reflection.
Think they're looking to bridge the next gap and get the next superstar in purple and gold. Kobe's already on the decline (although slow) and probably has two good years left if that. They need that new superstar to take over for Kobe when he's done in a couple years.

Their previous stance was no to both Gordon and the Minny pick. They might relent on the Minny pick, but that's it. Or they might hold the same stance.
They're pretty retarded if they don't trade Eric Gordon for Chris Paul. lol

but Paul already said he wouldn't sign an extension
I'd take the risk. Blake paired with Cp3 is a lot better than most scenarios Paul would find next year in free agency.
Chris Paul has decided that if he can't play for the Knicks (and Carmelo) or the Lakers (and Kobe), that he wants to play with Blake Griffin and the Clippers, according to Marc Stein.
Gotta do it if you're the Clippers.

hellz yah you do. That is a no brainer
