so according to jason jones the kings are gonna name hayes as team captain. um i know we're all happy about him being healthy and all but the guy just arrived to the team and he's already captain. and really the position of captain on an nba team doesnt really mean much but i just find it kinda unexpected. what do you guys think about this?

Hayes being named a Captain?

i think he means about the kings voiding his contract. which actually was the correct thing to due since we only had 6 days to void the contract or we would have been stuck with his contract if he did have a serious condition. but it seems like now that the kings are taking drastic measure to make him happy

Hayes being named a Captain?

no...I'm cool with that

just some idiot medical staff made a terrible misdiagnosis
and now it's like Hayes overcame Leukemia and won 17 Gold medals

not Hayes fault at all

You are right and its a mix of comical and a lot of sadness.

Anyway, I think Hayes was going to be the team captain regardless, not that it means much, as nobody else outside of Cisco has any leadership skills and there is hardly any experience in the roster. Tyreke is too quite and selfish with the ball. Thornton would sit idle until there are 3 minutes left in the game. Cousins would probably beat people up for not respecting his authority. Salmons would tell everyone to just give him the ball and stay the %^#@ out of his way. Outlaw would be too busy laughing that someone gave him a 4 year deal. Jimmer would be too busy getting laid. JT would overdose from pills trying to boost his confidence due to added pressure to perform. Donte would try to turn the team into the Globetrotters. So yeah Hayes was a good choice.

I'm okay. He's the only one on the team that does "captain" like things on the court, outside of Garcia. But he's never met a shot he didn't like, so...lol

Disagree on the Salmons thing. But I'm also not sure either way whether he has leadership qualities. New teammates have often pointed to Garcia as being a mentor. I haven't yet heard them say the same about Salmons.

Other than that, great post.

Hayes being the Captain of the team is the probably the best choice at this point in time. He's the most experienced, he plays the most defense, and he seems to care about making sure others are doing what they're suppose to be doing(on defense mainly). Although I wouldn't be surprised if Tyreke slowly took over that role as the year went on.
