So IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), how about that "Yankees basketball"? I know, I know, you'll tell me all about their cool hats (that was the correct word btw).

Why not DVR and watch late tonight?

I did, it was tomorrow morning when I started though.

+++++++++++++++++++++

It was a good game. Close throughout, only decided by one run.

And I agree, I like Motte more than Feliz.

C.J. Wilson is boring as a starter. Relies too heavily on fastballs.

IowaSacKing93
10-20-2011, 01:50 PM
Too many walks from Wilson too. He did okay still, but like I said, I can't see him having a lockdown start going 7-8 IP, giving up 3-5 H, and 0-2 R.

Jaime Garcia becomes the first Mexican to start in the World Series since 1981 (Fernando Valenzuela).

Good info, thanks IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93).

IowaCardinals93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), get ready for a good game tonight!

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 06:49 PM
Furcal gets the first hit of the night, from either team, in the bottom of the third.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 07:03 PM
Beltre hit a ball and it hit Kinsler in the shoulder at 3rd! LOL.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 07:05 PM
Beltre gets his last two strikes on low fastballs out of the strikezone. Maybe they were two-seamers.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 07:12 PM
This is another good game. 0-0 after four innings.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 07:28 PM
Colby Lewis walks Jamie Garcia.

(BTW, there have been 14 HOME RUNS by pitchers in the World Series).

Colby Lewis is a little more fun to watch than C.J. Wilson, and Jamie Garcia is a lot more fun to watch, than C.J. Wilson.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 07:30 PM
There's a lot of fun defensive plays today. Scoreless after five innings.

nuraman00

IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), do you like how the Cardinals field has the St. Louis arch imprinted on the grass?

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 08:03 PM
Allen Craig in as a pinch hitter.

Ogando coming in for relief of Colby Lewis.

Men on 1st and 3rd, bottom of the 7th.

Basically same situation as previous game, just a different inning.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 08:08 PM
Craig does it again! 0-1.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 08:22 PM
Still 0-1, heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Maybe I was right about the short series after all, it will just be in the other direction. :)

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 08:47 PM
What a great 9th inning! Andrus at 2nd, Kinsler at 3rd, 0 outs.

nuraman00
10-20-2011, 08:52 PM
Hamilton on a sac fly, Kinsler scores.

1-1.

nuraman00

2-1 after a Young sac fly.

Allen Craig HOME RUN!

1-0, going into the bottom of the 1st now.

BTW, Matt Harrison has:

* Given up the fewest HRs in the league, 13.

* Had the highest rate of double plays induced.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 12:21 AM
Andrus thought he had ball four, and started running toward first.

Whoops, it was actually strike 3.

LOL!

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 12:43 AM
Harrison double play in the 3rd, 2 outs now.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:06 AM
I was thinking of how the umpiring has been much better this postseason, compared to the last two.

But now here's a potentially huge missed call, and it's only the fourth inning. Napoli tagged Holliday with the back of his glove, about a full stride before Holliday reached 1st. But the umpire missed it, so it's only one out, and Holliday is called safe at first.

In game 1 of the WS, Beltre got a bad break when a foul ball was ruled fair. Not to make too light of it, but that was already the top of the 9th inning, and even if Beltre had managed to get on base later in that AB, someone still would have had to drive him in.

With today's Holliday play, there's still two outs left in the inning for someone to drive Holliday in, so there's more opportunity for him to score, and take advantage of the bad call.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:18 AM
Freese RBI, Holiday scores.

Sigh.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:22 AM
WOW.

Harrison gets a chopper with the bases loaded. He throws home, but Torrealba can't handle the throw. 2 runs score. 4-0 now.

I don't want to FF just yet, since it's the WS and there's few MLB games left. Will try and watch a little bit more, and see if the score gets closer.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:27 AM
Ryan Theriot RBI! 5-0 now.

This kind of reminds me of the Marlins-Cubs game in 2003, in that there's a weird play, then a bunch of runs scoring afterward.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:45 AM
Holiday outfield assist to Molina, to get Napoli out, at the end of the 4th.

It's a 5-3 game though now. Still, that was a huge out by St. Louis. I thought he was safe live, but the replays showed Molina did get Napoli.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 01:59 AM
Pujols HOME RUN. I think that's the longest one for the postseason that I've seen, since Fielder's in game 1 between Arizona and Milwaukee.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 02:22 AM
Wow, after the game on the postgame show, they showed that Napoli was safe in the 4th inning!

Still, even though that inning made Texas go to their bullpen, St. Louis still scored 16 total runs. Even if you remove 4, they still would have beaten Texas by a lot today.

This game was really long! It used up almost all of my allotted five hours on the DVR.

I don't like watching Texas. I don't like the SPs. Matt Harrison was more fun to watch than Holland, Wilson, but overall St. Louis SPs are more fun to watch for me, with Jamie Garcia and Kyle Lohse. They can throw more types of pitches for strikes.

And even though they aren't pitching that great, it's just more about their pitch command, that I like watching.

Colby Lewis was also more fun to watch last year than this year.

St. Louis' offense is relentless. I like how they strike early. IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93) made a great observation a few weeks ago, how St. Louis seems to score a lot early, especially in the 1st inning.

But I'm also getting sick of Texas not doing much until later in the ballgame. It's not like St. Louis' SP has been that great early on, to keep Texas from scoring early. They're just not cashing in, or getting the hits.

I'm going to root for St. Louis from now on. With Allen Craig getting MVP. He was one of my guys before the playoffs started anyways. Finish this thing in five. Without Cliff Lee, Texas doesn't have enough pitching that I like, and I haven't been that big of a fan of Feliz for a while. Mike Adams is good, but he's very situational.

Joe Buck, about Nolan Ryan: "Ok, you tell him that was a passed ball".

LOL.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 06:19 PM
After that rant I had this morning, Texas' Elvis Andrus scores from 1st, on a Josh Hamilton double, in the 1st inning.

LOL.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 07:01 PM
The broadcasters have mentioned Ron Washington's enthusiastic dancing and gestures, during Rangers scoring plays, at least twelve times over the past two days.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:05 PM
Edwin Jackson has 3 strikeouts and 7 walks through 5.1 innings.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:05 PM
Runners on 1st and second, Napoli up.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:07 PM
I like the Jeannie-O Call To The Bullpen more than the "When it's time for a change, think Speedy Oil Change" for local MLB broadcasts.

Mitchell Boggs coming in to relieve Edwin Jackson.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:10 PM
"LaRussa tells us that if Boggs hits his spot, he's as good as anyone. His spot right now will be down, for the double play ball".

After a 1st pitch high fastball to Napoli . . .

"That is tomahawked . . . to left field . . . it's way out of here".

0-4 now.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:25 PM
Derrick Holland has finally pitched a good game in the playoffs.

Edwin Jackson was pretty good too. Yeah a lot of walks, but he is going against a tough lineup. And Boggs is the one that gave up the 3 run HR.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:32 PM
IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), is this the "blow pen" you were talking about? Andrus leads off the bottom of the 7th with a double. Boggs is still pitching.

Well, St. Louis was behind, but still.

Holland will pitch into the 8th! That's the 1st for Texas in this playoffs, I think.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 08:35 PM
FOX is complaining that the stars from their primetime shows, like Glee, left the game after the 6th inning. McCarver suggests that maybe they got up to get a snack.

Joe Buck says "I don't think so. Not all three of them at once. Those seats look left".

I remember when FOX kept showing Brian Austin Greene, during one of the World Series, in the 1990s.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 09:04 PM
Sit back down Washington! Just because there's a 1 out walk in the 9th, let Derrick Holland get the complete game! There's a four run lead!

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 09:09 PM
Suck it, Washington. Feliz with a 3-2 walk. Craig never even swung the bat.

nuraman00
10-23-2011, 09:15 PM

Good commentary, nuraman00.

Thanks.

I don't know if you guys would agree, but Derrick Holland reminds me a lot of Madison Bumgarner.

Today he kind of did. What stands out about Bumgarner, to me, is that Bumgarner gets a lot of the strike zone. Usually that's good, but then he had 3 starts where he really got bombed, lol.

When watching Derrick Holland, I noticed he too mostly threw in the strike zone.

Ron Washington even said that some of his pitchers don't know how to pitch around guys. Meaning they're not used to throwing borderline pitches that may be balls, or they're not used to getting guys to chase bad pitches.

Is that the similarity you saw, puffdaniel09 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?21-puffdaniel09)? BTW, nice Location of "Best Coast".

Bummy's also three years younger than Holland, which in the grand scheme of things, is pretty considerable. I'd say Bumgarner and Kershaw are pretty comparable. Take out Bumgarners insane 9 earned runs in .1 innings game versus the Twins this year and they had pretty comparable year 21 stats.

Feel pretty confident in saying that within two years, Bumgarner will be better than both Cain and Lincecum.

Quick inning for Wilson. Beltre made a nice play, Pujols hit a deep fly ball to center, Wilson missed inside with the cutter but an effortless inning, he'll take it.

IowaSacKing93
10-24-2011, 06:30 PM
2 on and 0 out for Freese. Wilson already showing signs of wildness.

IowaSacKing93
10-24-2011, 06:35 PM
RBI Single from Molina through the left side. Still a threat to add on in this inning with Schumaker batting.

IowaSacKing93
10-24-2011, 06:37 PM
Rangers could have avoided that 2nd run from scoring but two key mishaps fielding-wise. 2-0, with Punto batting.

IowaSacKing93

IowaSacKing93

Derek Holland doing a Harry Caray impersonation during Holliday's AB! Memorable, wacky moment.

Agree, memorable and wacky. What do you think of Caray when you hear clips of him?

Imagine if Holliday would of hit a HR during that pitch..would he have called it with enthusiasm?

Joe Buck probably would have just said ". . . . left field. . . . exit" like he did with the Cruz Grand Slam in the ALCS. Only three words to describe a HR, now that's efficient.

BTW just want to say R.I.P to my dog Sweetie. We have had her since I was 5 and I turn 18 in December

R.I.P Sweetie. :( How did she die?

Yeah, look at post # 2, I tried to bring that to IowaSacKing93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93)'s attention. Apparently he still thinks it's 2006. Which means that if the Cubs lead the league in Runs in 2008, then maybe two years from now the Cubs will also do the same.

I'll repost post # 2 below:

No, probably tomorrow morning when I start watching.

This was another entertaining game. I thought the Cardinals were going to take this one (before the game started). I have no idea what's going to happen anymore.

Today was not a good day for my man Allen Craig. :( Caught stealing, twice?

F*ck the low ratings. Last year was the previously lowest rated WS ever, and now this year is even worse. They don't know what they're missing, these games have a lot to talk about. Today would have been fun to watch from the beginning.

Colby Lewis played in Japan, just like Vogelsong. Can he be the winning pitcher in a clinching game? Or will Jamie Garcia shut down Texas? Or shut up Texas.

Watching that C.J. Wilson error, I immediately thought of the Verlander error from the 2006 WS. I know pitchers had 5 of the 8 errors in that WS, but if I remember correctly, there were two errors on that play, and Verlander had the 1st. And he couldn't just believe what he had done.

nuraman00

I don't know how to look this up, but has there been a player to win WS MVP who lead the series in runs scored, but was not also the top RBI guy (and perhaps not the two 2 RBI guy either)?

If Texas wins the World Series, I want Beltre or Holland to win MVPs. :) Impossible for Holland though, since he won't have another start. And even if Beltre hits 3 HRs in a clinching game, he won't have the body of work.

I agree Nuraman, that Mike Napoli should get MVP should the Rangers win.

Do they have any stats on average time for a catcher to throw to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?

I'd like to see how Chris Stewart, Yadier Molina, and Mike Napoli compare.

I wonder how even Sandoval, when he played Catcher, compared. :)

Eze
10-26-2011, 12:06 PM
I'm not sure where Napoli's defense has come from.

Four of his five seasons in Anaheim he had a .986 fielding %, way below the league average of .992 during that span.

That's essentially why Scosia wanted rid of him - dude couldn't field, and for a Manger who was a catcher during his playing day, that's a no-no.

If this goes to a game 7, Texas should not start Matt Harrison. Either go with C.J. Wilson on short rest, or Derrick Holland on full rest. I know Holland has only had one good start in the playoffs, but at this point, those are the only two I'd trust.

For St. Louis, Carpenter on short rest is fine. You can also go to Kyle Lohse if you need to, for either long relief or as a starter.

Base hit to right. But the runners hold. Bases loaded, 2 outs. This is where heroes are born, Rafael Furcal.

IowaSacKing93
10-27-2011, 09:29 PM
Nice job Furcal. Swinging at the first pitch and it results in a weak grounder that couldn't even reach the mound.

It was tough to track the ball, live, but it looked like Cruz had a beat on it, and I thought he would've caught it jumping into the wall, and I couldn't really see the ball as it bounced off the wall (I had assumed he caught it for a split-second, but then I saw the ball bouncing away. Wow.

Freese with another big hit. 2-out, 2-strike triple to tie it up.

Craziest/best game I've ever seen. Berkman singles to center on a 2-2 pitch and Jay scores easily. Pujols to third with 2 outs. 9-9.

Wish I had been able to pay more attention. :(

11th inning time, Craig hit a chopper to 3rd for an easy out.

I'm at 100% zoom btw, so I don't think it should be like this. If I had time I'd dl FireFox, but I want to focus on the game right now.

I remember I kept missing Jake Westbrook's starts with the Indians during the 2007 Playoffs.

Does he have a knuckler? I think there was a reason why I wanted to see him.

It might be a tradition (like in the Stanley Cup Finals). I see a lot of bearded Texas players too. Berkman has a beard too, with white hairs in it LOL.

Yes.

Ok, I think I need to install my video card driver. That's probably why things dont' look right.

FREESE!

My first game 7 of the WS!

Ok, I saw the last 3 minutes of the 2001 one, but I knew nothing about those teams.

Oh yeah, that 2002 one too. So not my first.

IowaCardinals93 (http://kingsforum.net/live/member.php?9-IowaSacKing93), Allen Craig will show you today that he's better than David Freese.

2-0 after the top of the 1st.

2-2 now, top of the 2nd, one man on.

nuraman00
10-28-2011, 06:41 PM
I do agree that Carpenter's pitches aren't breaking. His curveball in the last AB in the top of the 2nd, was one of the only ones to break.

But he's also facing a tough Texas lineup, so it's not just because of the short rest by Carpenter.

nuraman00
10-28-2011, 06:56 PM
Carpenter is pitching a lot away from hitters now. It seems to be working. For now.

C.J. Wilson time.

nuraman00

CJ Wilson has the record for most walks in an postseason. He has tied with the record with Jerry someone from 1997.

Wilson hits Furcal. 2-5.

The commentators keep making a big deal of how the ball hasn't left the infield this inning. Isn't that normal? At least that's what I saw everyday with the shitty Giants hitters.

Allen Craig does an "Endy Chavez" and makes a great catch!

nuraman00
10-28-2011, 08:24 PM
Funny how Endy Chavez opposed the Cardinals, with the Mets, in 2006, and is now with Texas.

I was referring to the Endy Chavez catch in the 2006 game 7 for the Mets.

Arthur Rhodes coming in for Carpenter with a runner on in the 7th. He will face Torrealba of Texas.

Ogando in to pitch for Mike Gonzalez, because Gonzalez seemingly injured himself a 2-2 count to Allen Craig. It will be a 3-2 count to Craig when Ogando comes in.

Whiteside's OPS << What Berkman's OPS would be if he had his eyes closed for every AB.
